This year I’ve been experimenting with homemade spice blends. It all started with my Cajun Spice Blend. Store-bought Cajun blends are packed with salt so I decided to make my own blend packed with spice, not salt. Then I made an Everyday Blend that I love to use on pork (check out my Super Easy Pork Chop Meal). There’s also a Poultry Blend in the works and my Taco Blend is nearing completion (Picture below). Finally, there’s this Italian Spice Blend.
I have a giant container of Italian spice. I use it frequently and love the spice blend to a point, but the blend has too much rosemary and doesn’t work in all applications, such as bolognese and pasta dishes. So I decided to mix my own light on rosemary and with basil and oregano prominent. My blend might not work in pasta dishes, haven’t tried it, but I’m absolutely loving it on chicken and vegetables, and I’m finding new applications for it daily.
How does Bruschetta Chicken Salad or Sheet Pan Bruschetta Chicken sound? Here’s a sneak peek. They’re on the way, they’re perfect for summer, and they’re popping with flavor, so mix up a batch of Italian Spice Blend and get ready for some delicious food ahead.
